Richard (PhD, BEnvSc) joined Aurora Energy as Chief Executive in January 2018 and leads the delivery of the company’s strategic direction.
Over that period Aurora Energy has led a team that, with regulatory approval, rebuilt both its network and its own capability, delivering a major programme of investment to secure safer and more reliable outcomes for consumers. As CEO, he is now focused on the team enabling growth and electrification across Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago and Queenstown-Lakes, supporting new technologies and a more resilient, sustainable energy system for Aurora Energy’s consumers.
Before joining Aurora Energy, Richard was General Manager Regulation and Corporate Affairs at Powerco, a senior manager at Transpower, and Head of Economic Regulation at Welsh Water. He has advised on energy and water regulation, asset management and investment planning internationally.
